SUNY commencement ceremonies to be streamed
Commencement 2025 at the State University of New York at Fredonia will include ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Steele Hall arena,
The ceremonies will combine undergraduate as well as master’s degree and advanced certificate graduates.
SUNY Fredonia will also have live streaming video of both Commencement ceremonies. There will be a link to connect from the university’s home page at https://www.fredonia.edu
Keynote speakers are alumni including Dr. Kim D. Harrington, ’89, who is Associate Vice President for Arts, Belonging and Community at Georgia Institute of Technology for the morning ceremony, and for the afternoon ceremony, Gretchen Geitter, ’91, who was with the Buffalo Bills organization from 1994 to 2024, most recently, as Vice President of Community Relations and President of the Buffalo Bills Foundation.
College Council Chair Frank Pagano will offer greetings at both ceremonies, and Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Judith Horowitz will guide the ceremonies. Senior Class President Thomas Hayes will speak at both ceremonies and the Lanford Presidential Prize from the Oscar and Esther Lanford Endowment of the Fredonia College Foundation will be awarded to Dunkirk native Mia R. Piede during the afternoon ceremony. Opening Reflection readers include graduate degree candidates Anna Evans and Alissa Dixon. Alumna Dawn Spicer-Dake, ’88, will welcome the graduates to the Fredonia Alumni Association.
Music groups performing include the Commencement Wind Ensemble and Commencement Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb and Senior Lecturer Donna Dolson, respectively, and the Fredonia Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Vernon Huff. Candidates for graduation Ashley Zielezinski will sing the national anthem at the morning ceremony, and Hannah Schubring, at the afternoon ceremony.
