A GoFundMe page has been set up by a relative to assist family members impacted by a home explosion in Lakeview on Monday night.

Lynn Maranto said John Pease was critically injured and is currently in the burn unit at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. The family dog, Lucy, was found amongst the devastation, and she is recovering in an animal hospital.

Pease has lost his wife of 57 years, Joene, as well as the home, and any sign of memories within their home.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy, and words cannot express the depth of pain and grief John and his family are enduring,” Maranto said. “We are raising funds to help offset medical expenses and overwhelming funeral expenses for his beloved wife, Joene.”

John Pease, family members say, was a Brocton Central School graduate with the Class of 1964. He was also a starter on the undefeated 1962 Brocton football team.

“Devastation is the only word that comes to mind during this time. Your donation will help immensely,” Maranto said. “We are the city of good neighbors, and one of our neighbors can really use our support and prayers during this tragedy.”
