Leon Historical Society lists coming events
LEON — Leon Historical Society meeting discussed the Pennyroyal Racetrack attendance being low in the spring, possibly due to the rainy weekends. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The society received a beautiful wooden rocking chair that belonged to Pat Frost formerly of Leon-Cherry Creek Hill, from her family, Alice and Mark Cunningham, with the request that the proceeds be used to help restore the church steeple. There will be more information on a fundraiser later. The society also thanked Tom Stockman of Leon for removing the unwanted guests (woodchucks) from under the church and replacing the vent covers.
