Michael Ferguson pays tribute to Jim Sedota

Jim Sedota was remembered as “a man willing to help anyone” by Fredonia Mayor Michael Ferguson at the start of last week’s village Board of Trustees meeting.

Ferguson said a few words to honor the longtime Fredonia village administrator, who passed away last week.

“Tonight we honor and mark the passing of James M. Sedota, of Fredonia, N.Y.. He was former administrator of this village for over 30 years and multiple (mayoral) administrations,” Ferguson opened. “Jim helped to move the community forward with every step.”

Ferguson noted Sedota served his community up until his passing, working as a financial claims adjuster for the Fredonia Central School District.

The mayor remarked about Sedota’s love of golf. Sedota considered Fredonia’s Vineyards Golf Course his home course, Ferguson said.

“He could be found helping many charitable efforts, continuing his desire to see Fredonia grow,” the mayor continued. “He was a man willing to help anyone, who asked and offered financial advice to so many, including this current administration.

“We salute him for his passion for family, friends, God and community. He is survived by Dadie Sedota, his four children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.”

Ferguson concluded that Sedota was “known for his smile and humor, he will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you Jim Sedota, and thank you to his family for letting us share his knowledge and his life. We are all better for knowing him.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
