A beach hazards statement and small craft advisory were in effect across the Lake Erie shoreline on Thursday. Strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions were at beaches of Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties through the evening. Residents were advised to stay out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions. West winds to 30 knots and waves 6 to 9 feet were reported throughout the day.
