Chautauqua County History Expo well received

FLUVANNA — The Chautauqua County History Expo was held in Fellowship Hall of the Fluvanna Community Church and attended by many.

The show ran out of programs in the first 28 minutes and more were printed for the crowd of people. The show was designed to showcase the history of the many organizations and communities of the county.

The event was organized by the Chautauqua County Historian’s office and a committee of historical organizations. Norman P. Carlson is the Chautauqua County Historian.

The committee included Carlson, President of the County Historical Society Jason Sample, Carroll Town Historian Barbara Cessna, Vice President of the Fenton Historical Society Janet Wahlberg, Harmony, North Harmony and Panama Historian Pam Brown, Executive Director of the Fenton Historical Society Joni Blackman, Office manager of the Fenton Historical Society Andrew Kolstee, Trustee of the Fenton Historical Society Sharon Matson, President of the Harmony Historical Society John Brown, President of the Fenton Historical Society Thomas Goodwill, and Archivist/Curator of the Fenton Historical Society Matthew Tsitso.

There were 48 displays represented during the show. Some of the many included Arkwright Town Historian Ruth Nichols, Barcelona lighthouse with Michelle Henry, Cassadaga Village Historian and Stockton Historian John Sipos, Chautauqua County Historian’s Office with Melissa Silleman, Chautauqua County Genealogical Society with Wayne Leamer, Daughters of the American Revolution with Gail Dash, Fluvanna Historical Society by Sherry Shay, Hanover Historian with Vince Martonis, Jamestown Trolley Car #93 Restoration Project with Bob Johnston, Memorial Photo with Rick Roll, Sons of American Revolution with President Jeff Crossley, Thule Lodge 127 VASA Order of American with chairman Susan Sipos, Cassadaga Valley Historical Society of Sinclairville with Sheryl Christy, and Westfield Town and Village Historian with Bill and Patricia Locke. This list is just a few of the representatives, there were many more present.

The Expo was a one-day event from 10 am until 4 pm. During the day, there were four lectures on the Erie Canal, Lafayette, A.W. Anderson, and the Patriot Markets Program.
