Dragon Boat Races Return To Chautauqua Lake Saturday

The Chautauqua Dragon Boat Committee will host its Dragons and Ducks event on Saturday, Aug. 9, at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron.

The event opens with the opening ceremony to “Wake the Dragon” and includes local craft vendors, food vendors, dragon boat races and the Greater Chautauqua FCU Rubber Ducky Race benefitting the Chautauqua Lake Association, Chautauqua County Samaritan House Inc., Filling the Gap, Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association and Greater Chautauqua FCU’s collections for Blue Star Mothers holiday care packages and Toys for Kids.

Rubber Ducky Racer tickets are $7 and will be available Saturday morning. The Chautauqua Lake Association’s transport will dump the ducks into the lake, after which the ducks travel their course to the finish line at 2 p.m. The day will wrap up with the Dragon Boat award ceremony by presenting winners of the drummer competition and race with handmade medals created by The Resource Center Creative Art and Pickin’ Club.
