A recently started family-owned business is looking to provide emergency transport for the Amish community in both Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Amish Emergency Transport is a family-owned business with its home base in Pennsylvania looking to help the Amish community connect with local, ready drivers when needed through a dispatch system. Owner Cameron Saxton said anyone looking to drive for them must have the correct certifications and licenses and that there will also be a vetting process and background check. He said the business is not looking to take away from the Amish community’s current drivers they already use, rather they will be providing a service if there is an emergency or the typical driver is not available.

In the future Saxton said he hopes to expand, but right now the business is looking for drivers in Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York. Saxton said if someone applies there will be a phone or video interview along with the typical paperwork, vetting and background process, etc., and once everything is set the driver will be put into the system, and after that everything works like a typical dispatch system. AET conducts thorough background checks and personal interviews to ensure their drivers align with their core values and the values of the community.

Saxton said AET is a dispatch service that connects vetted independent contractor drivers with customers. Drivers are responsible for their own vehicles and insurance, and they handle all the dispatching and back-end administration for them.

“It can help people get a second income and let them help their community,” Saxton said. “It will let them be involved and it works just like Uber or DoorDash. We provide a direct link to a vital resource to allow people to get transportation 24/7.”

As a new company, Saxton said they are just starting out and working on getting their name out there and establishing relationships in the community. This involves things like making posters and talking with the Amish communities they are looking to serve.

“On the English side, if someone who is not Amish is in need of transportation they are also welcome to contact us,” Saxton said. “We are just looking to get the word out and serve people when needed.”

Amish Emergency Transport is looking for car, van and truck drivers. For more information call either the United States Dispatch Line at 866-739-1411 or the Local Dispatch at 814-581-5004, or visit their website amishtransport.net, or contact them by email at amishemergencytransport@gmail.com.
