Man tied to Vermont murder nabbed on Thruway

A Michigan resident, who is wanted in a Vermont murder case, was nabbed on a speeding charge early Wednesday in the town of Portland.

New York State Police report Terrence L. Biggs, 25 of Warren, Mich., was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and being a fugitive from Justice. Troopers report that at 2:35 a.m., they observed a 2024 Nissan versa traveling westbound on Interstate 90 operating over the posted speed limit. An investigation determined that Biggs has an active arrest warrant issued by the City of Rutland Police Department in Vermont for second-degree murder and another out of Florida for assault. Biggs was also found to possess suboxone.

He was processed at Dunkirk and transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment and will be held pending extradition to Vermont.
