Ripley talks recyclables, budget

Town of Ripley board members, at their regular meeting this month adopted a local law requiring the separation of recyclable and reusable materials from other forms of trash.

The law is intended to conform with the direction from the New York State Legislature that each municipality adopt legislation regarding solid waste left for collection.

Recyclable or reusable materials include, but are not limited to, glass, metal and plastic containers and newspapers, according to the proposed law. These materials shall be separated from other solid waste materials when placed for pickup.

Recyclable or reusable materials must be place in containers approved by the town and must be put out for collection only at times and places designated by the Board of Trustees.
