Fall along the Amish Trail planned Saturday

SOUTH DAYTON — Fall is in full appearance in downtown. With the Depot Rail & Movie Museum belonging to the Amish Trail, the Friends of the Depot and the Farmers’ Market gals have planned four hours of fun for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Village Square.

In the past, there was a vintage car show. This year whatever you have to drive, come to “Drive What You Got!” It will be interesting, fun, possibly educational, and has prizes.

Parking is across the street from the Depot. Exciting Trunk or Treat is setting up close to the Square. For more information, contact Tina Armstrong of the Farmers’ Market.

The Farmers’ Market will be bustling with all kinds of baked goods, delicious breads, home made cloth bags, aprons, vegetables, fruits, jams, and the Amish Trail Special will be a $5 pumpkin pie, along with experienced cooking advice.

For lunch, hot dogs, chips, and a cold soft drink will be available and dine at the picnic tables on the Village Square. Also, Mmm…Mazing Dessert Food Truck will be set up with funnel cakes, frozen dipped cheesecake, cold soft drinks, along with pure friendliness.

Walker’s Creekside Alpaca Farm will be on the Village Square with mama and baby Alpacas.

Purchase a $5 bag of goodies including a carrot. Enjoy learning about Alpacas too.

Lacey’s Petting Zoo will be set up next to the South Dayton Fire Department’s Driveway.

Amy’s Hand Painted Gnomes will be on the Village Square with all size gnomes that make great Christmas gifts.

The Village Library will have a unique book craft for a $10 donation. The Library has an ongoing book sale including puzzles, framed puzzles.

Peg VanWormer, Terry Rogers, members of Friends of the Depot, will encourage adults and children to paint rocks making a Fall leaf print (maple leaves from the Village Square), decoupage a picture on wooden plaques made by Cherry Creek Woodcraft.

There is no charge for these two activities, just fun. Tour the Depot Rail and Movie Museum, take selfie pictures next to the ticket window used in “The Natural” and “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” set in the Redford Chair, and go back in history with original writings on the wall. On display, view the necessary shipping, receiving documents, and forms used by former Station Agent William Neubeck whose career years were 1948 to 1980.

The New York & Lake Erie Train will arrive at 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Along with the Depot Rail and Movie Museum sponsoring this event are the Farmers’ Market, Austin Milling, and Mmm.Mazing. This is a day event of fun and education on the South Dayton Village Square. Join us as we Fall Along the Amish Trail.
