Frerichs coordinates busy schedule of month’s events

October has been a prolific month for SUNY Distinguished Professor Timothy Frerichs of the State University of New York at Fredonia, with artwork exhibits, international lectures and workshops.

Frerichs, of the Department of Visual Arts and New Media, exhibited newly created artwork in a solo exhibition, “Migration,” at the VAA Gallery Akademija in Vilnius, Lithuania, which opened Oct. 8. Frerichs was awarded an EU Erasmus Faculty Exchange Grant with the Vilnius Academy of Art. Accompanying the exhibition, Frerichs conducted a five-day artist book workshop with select Academy students and presented an open public lecture, “Print(s) making, Maps and Materials.”

Also in October, Frerichs was invited to display four artist books in the exhibition “Word: Text-based Art and Design,” curated by Graphic Design Professor Derek Witucki and Gallery Director Maria Ferguson, at the Bruce Gallery at PennWest University, in Edinboro, PA. The exhibition opened Oct. 15 and runs through February 2026. More information is available at Exhibitions — Bruce Gallery.

Additionally, Frerichs was invited to present his research for the online AART 2nd International Art Symposium, organized by the faculty of Fine Arts at Anadolu University, Turkey. Frerich presented “Print(s) making, Maps and Materials” on Oct. 23.

Frerichs is also currently exhibiting his installation “Ice Out: Lake Erie” at the UB Anderson Gallery, Buffalo, NY, as part of the “Water, Grain, Steel: Industry and the Erie Canal,” through Feb. 28, 2026.
