Lecture highlights Hispanic Heritage Month at SUNY

The Honorable Betty Calvo-Torres

The Honorable Betty Calvo-Torres will deliver a keynote address on Tuesday at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

The event, at 6 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center, is as part of the university’s Intercultural Center (IC) Speakers’ Series and in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Erie County Supreme Court Justice Calvo-Torres, widely recognized for her commitment to justice and community empowerment, will speak on the theme, “Leading with Purpose: Shaping the Future of Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging.” Her inspiring message will highlight pathways to leadership and the importance of fostering inclusive communities on and beyond campus.

The special event is co-sponsored by Fredonia’s Latinos Unidos student organization and is free and open to the public. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend and engage in a meaningful conversation honoring Hispanic heritage and the power of purposeful leadership.

In addition to Latinos Unidos, sponsors include the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Intercultural Center and the Faculty Student Association.
