Opera House to present free SUNY Fredonia Young Artists Recital
A free SUNY Fredonia Young Artists Recital will take place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House.
The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center will present a special free-admission recital featuring some of the most talented young students from the State University of New York at Fredonia’s School of Music on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5:30 p.m.
Presented in partnership with School of Music Faculty Members Dr. Eliran Avni and Dr. Natasha Farny, the performance is part of a concert initiative created to provide the students the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings and to a broader audience. The event also serves to strengthen the collaborative relationship between the Opera House and the School of Music. The recitals feature both solo and ensemble performances.
The recital program will feature music by Beethoven, Bartók, Chopin, and Schumann, as well as a few modern composers. With this recital falling the day before Halloween, there might be some appropriately spooky fun as part of the performance. Admission is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.
Opera House programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County.
The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center with a mission to “present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high-quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
