Club donates to Dwyer Group
On Oct. 8, the Mayville/Chautauqua Lions Club presented DreAnn Csorba, Director of the Jamestown Dwyer Group, with a check to help support local veterans. The regular meeting was held at Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 at 6:30 p.m. where Csorba gave a presentation about the Dwyer program and the help and support in 62 counties across New York state. The program is named after Joseph Dwyer, a veteran who served in Baghdad and experienced challenges reintegrating into the civilian community. After his passing, a peer-to-peer program was formed in 2012 to provide veterans with a way to communicate and share their experiences. This is a 100% confidential and free program providing non-clinical support and advocacy to the military community and their families by connecting them to resources such as food pantry, housing assistance and benefits. The Mayville/Chautauqua Lions Club is a service organization that engages in fundraising and other projects that are designed to support our local community. We meet at the VFW, on the second Wednesday of each month to discuss upcoming projects and events. Everyone is welcome to our meetings. For more information contact Ann Akin at 716 665-7432.
