Former Buffalo Bills tight end to host bowling fundraiser in Jamestown on Saturday

With his name being Donald “Butch” Rolle, one may find it ironic that he said he is not a very good bowler.
But he makes up for his lack of bowling prowess in other ways.
The Butch Rolle Foundation holds fundraisers to help under-privileged students pay for college.
Rolle spent time in The National League as a former tight end for the Buffalo Bills and Phoenix Cardinals, and for the second year, he will be holding a Charity Bowl Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Jamestown Bowling Company, 850 Foote Ave.
Foundation supporter Randy Grey said the reason for this fundraiser is to raise money for educational scholarships and holiday gifts.
“It’s going to be a fun time,” Rolle said of the Charity Bowl.
Rolle added that his foundation began in 2012, and it was “just to help kids in need.” Now he said he is concentrating on scholarships as well as holding toy drives during the holiday season.
Rolle’s organization uses a three-pillar approach:
Awareness: Support 100 girls interested in the fields of artificial intelligence, advanced research and other scientific and technology centered specialties get access to the early training they need. That includes partnering to provide summer camps, virtual bootcamps and mentoring.
Fundraising: Provide meals, mentoring, information, support services, and financial support to more than 250 people every year.
Policy and Advocacy: Broad network of volunteers advocates state and education policies that benefit students.
Grey said the Charity Bowl will have some nice prizes associated with the raffles.
“Even if you don’t bowl, you can enter the raffles to support his foundation,” Grey said.
Check-in for bowlers is 1 p.m.
“We hope to fill all 24 lanes,” Grey said. “We already have 15 to 16 (lanes) reserved.”
Teams can have up to six bowlers, and all proceeds go to the Butch Rolle Foundation Holiday Toy Drive. In 2024, former Buffalo Bills safety Mark Kelso was on hand to help out in Jamestown.
“We welcome everybody to just come and have a good time,” Grey said.
