Silver Creek, Hanover eye 250th birthday of U.S.

SILVER CREEK — Hanover town Supervisor Lou Pelletter spoke to the Village Board about potential festivities to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. Pelletter, as Village of Silver Creek Historian, is researching the history of the name of Silver Creek in an attempt to document how the name of the village came to be.

The town of Hanover is looking to partner with the village of Silver Creek and the hamlet of Forestville for celebrations to honor the region’s history for the 250th birthday of the United States this summer. More information will be available in the coming months.

Also at this month’s meeting, the Silver Creek Village Board approved the membership application of Paul Rozewicz to the Silver Creek Fire Department at its recent meeting, as approved by the Board of Fire Wardens.

Beginning Jan. 1, membership will likely be determined by the Bay Creek Fire District, rather than the Village Board or Town Board.
