CASSADAGA — Rudy Abersold was administered the oath office as mayor for the village of Cassadaga by Clerk Annette McChesney. Abersold becomes the 28th presiding officer in the village. A group of village residents was present for the ceremony.
Cassadaga was incorporated on Jan. 9, 1921. The first three presiding officers were known as Presidents of the village, and in 1927, the presiding officer was called Mayor. Abersold becomes the 25th Mayor out of the total 28 presiding officers. McChesney is the 10th Village Clerk since the incorporation in 1921.
Abersold is not unfamiliar with government politics as he served as a village trustee from 2009-2011. His father Sheldon Abersold served as a village trustee from 1963-1967.
In his inaugural speech following the oath of office, Abersold talked about six major concerns that he has for the village residents. The regular meeting of the Cassadaga Village Board will be on Wednesday in the Village Hall at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
