Anderson-Lee Library lists events for month

A Bracelet Making Workshop with Brielle and Ava LaValle will be Jan. 20.

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St. in Silver Creek has announced programming for January. Programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program.

The library will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

— Pre-school Storytime for children ages 2-5 on Thursday mornings with Miss Jill at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Pre-registration is requested.

— School Age Storytime for children 6-12 years of age on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. with Miss Amy. Stories, crafts, games, and other activities are offered. Pre-registration is requested.

Rebecca Cuthbert has a pair of workshops planned in Silver Creek.

— Lego Club for ages 5-12, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! Limit of 10 children and pre-registration is required.

— Make a Winter Snow Globe, Tuesday, January 13 at 6 p.m. The holidays are over but you can still decorate for winter! Join us for a simple version of a dry snow globe. For all ages and pre-registration is required.

— Story Shapes Workshop with Rebecca Cuthbert, Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. The local author, editor, and writing instructor will take workshop participants through five different “story shapes,” graphics designed to help writers outline different types of fictional stories. Each participant will then choose a story shape to work with for a group freewrite session, with optional idea sharing afterward. Ideal for teens and adults; all skill and experience levels welcome. Refreshments will be served. For the workshop, bring a notebook and pen or your laptop.

— Bracelet Making Workshop with Brielle and Ava LaValle, Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. Join sisters Brielle and Ava and learn to create beaded bracelets. Brielle and Ava have been making and selling bracelets for over 2 years, donating 50% of their profits to local charities. Tonight, they will show us how they create their wares! All ages are welcome and pre-registration is required.

— Developing Narrative Setting Workshop with Cuthbert, Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6pm. Local author Rebecca Cuthbert will be back at the Anderson-Lee Library for a second writing workshop, helping participants develop their narrative settings. Those who attend will learn about the different ways setting can impact a story and what’s most important in world building, along with a few missteps to avoid. This workshop is ideal for those who attended the previous “Story Shapes Workshop,” but that is not a requirement. Ideal for teens and adults; all skill and experience levels welcome. Refreshments will be served. For the workshop, bring a notebook and pen or your laptop.

— Teddy Bear Clinic, Saturday, Jan. 31 at 10:30 a.m. Does your teddy bear need a checkup? All ages are welcome to attend our Teddy Bear Clinic to ensure that your Teddy is in good health. Check their heart and blood pressure, take their temp, apply any bandages needed, give shots and treats and more! Any loved stuffy is welcome. Pre-registration is encouraged.

The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from 2-4pm. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!

Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
