Fatal fire reported in Evans Mobile Home Park

EVANS – One person died following a fire in a mobile home park.

According to the Evans Police Department, on Thursday at around 3:40 p.m. officers received calls of a possible structure fire at Thomas Lane in the Melody Meadows Mobile Home Park.

Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid departments were dispatched, along with Evans Police.

First arriving personnel found a mobile home with considerable visible fire and heavy smoke present. The fire was impinging on a neighboring residence which did sustain damage.

During the extinguishment of the fire, a person, whose name was not released, was found deceased by firefighters.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Unit was requested and doing an investigation. The cause of the fire is pending.

Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by Lake Erie Beach, Angola, Brant, Farnham, Sunset Bay/Silver Creek, Highland, North Evans, and Lake View fire departments and AMR ambulance.

Numerous cats were also found deceased and were taken to a local vet.

The victim’s body was transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office.
