Jackson Center to host free speech talk Thursday
The Northern Chautauqua County Juneteenth Celebration Committee is planning the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon to be held at the State University of New York Williams Center, 280 Central Ave., Fredonia, on Monday, Jan. 19 at 11:45 a.m. The theme for the luncheon is “Different Roads, Shared Dreams.”
The committee will also be presenting the Janice D. Slaton, Esq. scholarship. In addition to the scholarship presentation, the Committee is continuing with the “See Me” Literacy Drive that began in 2021 due to COVID-19.
Attendees should feel free to bring a book to the luncheon or donate funds to purchase new books or games. The “See Me” Literacy Drive provides books and games that reflect the community in which the reader resides.
The Juneteenth Celebration in the city of Dunkirk will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on June 13 and 14.
