CHUATUAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
– Trevon Gallagher, 28, of Forestiville was charged Sunday with failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to comply with a lawful order, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, no/inadequate headlamps, and no/inadequate taillamps. Officials said at about 12:05 a.m., a deputy did observe a vehicle and traffic violation in the town of Sheridan. The deputy did attempt to stop the vehicle utilizing the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights, however the vehicle refused to comply with the lawful order and continued on. The vehicle continued to drive at a slow speed until it entered the City of Dunkirk. Once in Dunkirk, officials said, by driving erratically, the vehicle attempted to evade both Chautauqua County Sheriff’s units as well as units from the City of Dunkirk Police Department. Eventually the vehicle came to rest and the operator, Gallagher, was placed into custody without further incident. He was subsequently taken to the Chautauqua County Jail. After completing a thorough investigation, it was determined that during the incident Gallagher allegedly was driving while intoxicated by alcohol. Gallagher will be in Sheridan Town Court and Dunkirk City Court later.
– Christine L. Gard, 45, of Silver Creek, was charged Feb. 2 with operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended/revoked, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. According to officials, at about 12:16 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Route 5 in the town of Sheridan. The operator was identified as Gard, and after further investigation, Gard was found to be allegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and with a revoked driver’s license. Additionally, Gard was found in alleged possession of a controlled substance which did test positive as methamphetamine. Gard was released and will be in town court later.
