Throughout the month, Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union is hosting its “Hearts for Horses” fundraiser at all five of its locations.

Love is in the air this February — and it’s headed straight to the barn.

Throughout the month, Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union is hosting its “Hearts for Horses” fundraiser at all five of its locations — Westfield, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Silver Creek, and Bemus Point — with a goal of raising $1,000 to help provide hay for the therapy horses at Centaur Stride.

The bitter cold temperatures of January and February have taken a serious toll on hay supplies that were expected to last until spring. When temperatures drop, horses must consume a steady supply of hay to maintain their core body temperature. In extreme cold, they burn significantly more calories just trying to stay warm. For therapy horses who work year-round supporting children and adults with special needs, proper nutrition isn’t optional — it’s essential.

Community members can show their support with a $5 donation. In return, their name will be proudly displayed on a paper heart at their local Credit Union branch, creating a growing wall of hearts that represents the warmth and generosity of our community.

Centaur Stride remains committed to keeping program fees below operating costs so services can stay affordable and accessible to as many families as possible. By doing so, the organization relies heavily on the kindness of local supporters and fundraisers like this one to bridge the gap.

“It truly takes a whole community to raise a child — especially children with special needs,” organizers shared. “Our therapy horses play a vital role in building confidence, strength, independence, and joy for our participants. Supporting their care means supporting every child who walks through our doors.”
