WACS bidding farewell to secretary in May
xAt their meeting last month, Westfield Academy and Central School Board of Education members accepted, with “great appreciation,” the resignation of Tina Winslow as Superintendent’s Secretary and District Clerk.
Winslow is resigning for the purpose of retirement, effective May 2. She has served the district for 31 years. District Superintendent Ryan Sikorski lauded Winslow’s service. “After 31 years of exceptional service, it’s my pleasure to honor her,” he said. “For more than three decades, she has been the steady heartbeat of our central office – managing complex operations with grace, expertise and unwavering professionalism.”
Sikorski went on to note how Winslow had worked with numerous superintendents and administrators. “She represented our district with warmth to everyone who walked through our doors,” he said. “Her institutional knowledge is irreplaceable, but beyond that, she’s created a welcoming environment and handled every challenge with calm competence.”
During the period of board commentary, Tom Tarpley spoke of the stability that Winslow has provided for the district. “In the seven years I’ve been on the board, I’ve worked with three different superintendents and interim superintendents,” he said. “Through it all, there’s been one constant – Tina Winslow.”
When contacted, Winslow said she has served for four superintendents and three interim superintendents in the 18.5 years that she has been a superintendent’s secretary. “It has been a pleasure serving a district and being a member of the WACS family for the last 31 years,” she said. “I will miss seeing everyone and wish everyone the best.”
In other business, Student Ex-Officio Board Member Ben Wolfe presented his final report to the board. He has served for the second quarter of the 2025-26 school year and will now turn over the title to another student.
Wolfe told the board that students from several districts came to WACS on Saturday, Jan. 24 to participate in the Chamber Choir Concert. “Groups came to Westfield and practiced together until the performance at 7:30,” he said. “We welcomed student musicians from Cassadaga Valley High School, Chautauqua Lake High School, Jamestown High School, Maple Grove High School, Pine Valley High School, and Southwestern High School.”
Wolfe noted the Chamber Choir Concert is a great experience in many ways. “Besides being a great opportunity to perform with other schools, the concert also acts as a fundraiser for the Westwind trip,” he said.
Board President Wendy Dyment thanked Wolfe for his service and said she has enjoyed his reports. Board member Deanne Manzella also expressed her appreciation for Wolfe’s updates. “Thank you for reporting on all of the activities that are going on in our school,” she said.
