Family’s gift of 100 Book Bundles brings hope, comfort
Representatives from CASA of Chautauqua County, Family Court, the Department of Mental Hygiene, Community Services Workers, and Attorney for Children gather with the Stone family to celebrate the donation of 100 Book Bundles for local children in foster care.
MAYVILLE — In January, CASA of Chautauqua County (Court Appointed Special Advocates), in partnership with Family Court Judges, the Department of Mental Hygiene, Community Services Workers, and Attorneys, gratefully received a generous donation of 100 Book Bundles from the Stone family to share with children in foster care. These thoughtfully assembled bundles include books, journals, coloring books, and other comforting and creative items designed to inspire, engage, and bring joy.
The Stone family — along with their four remarkable children — knows firsthand the power of love, stability, and belonging. Having experienced the life-changing journey of becoming a forever family, they now give back each year in meaningful ways. In addition to the Book Bundles, they have previously provided Birthday Boxes and Comfort Bags, consistently bringing moments of light and care to children navigating difficult circumstances. Their generosity reflects a heartfelt commitment to ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and supported.
These special gifts not only brighten the lives of the children served by CASA, but also enhance the work of CASA volunteers. Volunteers build trusting relationships with the children they advocate for, gathering important information to share with the courts and collaborating with social workers, foster families, educators, counselors, and therapists. The Book Bundles offer a warm and welcoming way to connect–helping to ease conversations, build comfort, and create positive moments during what can be an uncertain time in a child’s life.
CASA of Chautauqua County and our community partners extend our deepest appreciation to foster families like the Stones and to the many unsung heroes who open their hearts and homes to children in need. Their compassion provides safety, stability, and hope to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Currently, Chautauqua County has approximately 75 certified foster homes, including both traditional and kinship homes, many of which are at capacity. With nearly 100 children in care–ranging from infancy through age 18–the need for additional foster families remains great. Each child comes with their own unique story, strengths, and needs, but all share the same fundamental desire: to feel loved, safe, and accepted.
Thanks to the Stone family’s continued dedication and generosity, children in foster care are reminded that they are not alone and that their community cares deeply about their well-being.
