No Kings III protest planned for Saturday
No Kings III events are planned for Saturday in Chautauqua County.
“No Kings is a mass, nonviolent movement that has already mobilized millions…and is growing as communities unite to reject authoritarian power grabs and defend dignity and freedom,” organizers say. Many national groups are involved in this movement such as the ACLU, Indivisible, 50501, and others.
The nationwide call to action for Saturday, the third No Kings Day, will have local participation possible. Those who wish to participate must be mindful that this event is organized as a peaceful demonstration to make known dissatisfaction with the course our country’s government is taking and that America belongs to We the People.
Locally, a rally will be held at the gazebo in Barker Commons in Fredonia. The option to march on Central Avenue from Cottage Street to the rally or drive down Central from the parking lot across from the Clarion in decorated cars beginning at 3 p.m. is available for anyone who wants to, weather permitting. Assembly at the gazebo will begin at 3 and a program will be presented when the marchers arrive.
Other events planned in the area for that day include a rally in Jamestown organized by the Jamestown Justice Coalition at Dow Park with speakers and performances from 11 a.m. to noon and street protest from noon to 2 p.m. Also, at the Chautauqua Institution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an event is planned at 67 Bestor Plaza.
These are opportunities for individuals to gather in protest peacefully and responsibly. For more information on No Kings, visit the website, nokings.org.
