Seneca Casino to host Kansas, Deep Purple Tour Date

Members of the current iteration of Deep Purple are pictured. On Monday, the band announced a tour with rock band Kansas with a stop in Salamanca in August.

Two legendary classic rock bands will make their way to the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca this summer.

Deep Purple was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 and has sold more than 100 million albums and delivered such powerful hit songs as “Highway Star,” “Hush,” “Woman from Tokyo,” “Smoke on the Water,” and more. Their 1973 double live album “Made in Japan,” is widely considered to be one of the most influential live albums in rock history. Deep Purple continues to tour and release new music, with its last four studio albums reaching top chart positions across Europe.

The band’s current lineup includes Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Simon McBride.

Joining Deep Purple is Kansas, known for hits like “Carry On Wayward Son,” “Point of No Return,” and “Dust in the Wind,” Kansas has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide since forming in 1974. Throughout the 1970s and ’80s, Kansas appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks, regularly performing to sold-out crowds across North America, Europe and Japan. The band remains a popular staple on Classic Rock radio.

Kansas currently boasts a lineup of vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, keyboardist/vocalist Tom Brislin, guitarist Zak Rizvi, guitarist Scott Bernard, violinist/guitarist Joe Deninzon, bassist/vocalist Dan McGowan, original guitarist Richard Williams, and original drummer Phil Ehart. Eric Holmquist performs on drums while Phil Ehart continues to recover from a major heart attack.

Bernard was announced as a full member of the band in August 2025 after performing at several shows over the course of a year filling-in for guitarist and original member Richard Williams as needed.

Bernard had been a session guitarist and vocalist who performed alongside Kenny Loggins for 17 years, serving as guitarist, background vocalist, and musical director for the past seven of those years. Bernard also worked with Michael McDonald, WhiteHeart, John Schlitt, Richard Marx, Al Stewart, Joe Bonamassa, Alan Parsons, Mark Schultz, Michelle Wright, Blue Sky Riders, Terri Clark, Gary Burr, Dave Barnes, Matt Wertz, Shannon Brown, Adam Nitti, Chely Wright, Katrina Elam, Nicole C. Mullen and many others.

Williams remains an active member of KANSAS but will be scaling back touring.

“Scott Bernard is a fantastic guitar player, a great guy, and is my hand-picked choice to help carry on the legacy of the band Kansas,” Williams said in an August 2025 news release. “He’s not only an incredibly talented guitarist and vocalist, but he’s also a Wheathead. I am not stepping down nor retiring. But I am slowing down. Macular degeneration has made travel increasingly difficult to the point where it impedes my ability to get to as many shows as I want. I will still be at, and perform at, as many concerts as I can. Adding Scott as a member of KANSAS, alongside Zak Rizvi on guitar, allows the shows that I’m not at, and Kansas, to go on well into the future. When we all three are there, we will all perform. In 1974 we made a statement that ‘Kansas is a Band!’ It was true then and continues to be true now.”
