Silver Creek notes hirings, resignations

SILVER CREEK — At its recent meeting, the Board of Education held the first reading of five policies, as well as the second reading of 17 policies of the district. A series of budget transfers were also approved.

Regarding district personnel, Justin Cerne has resigned from his role as High School Technology Teacher, effective March 26. Additionally, the Board accepted the resignation of Catherine Casselberry as Pool Director. Jean Mahaney will serve as Pool Director in her place.

Nicolle Evenden received permanent status as Clerk II/Bus Driver II. Valorie Hardman was appointed as a Teacher Aide, at a rate of $16 per hour, per CSEA contract. Josh Tedone was approved as a substitute teacher, and Tyler Januchowski was approved as a substitute cleaner.

Brad Fanale was appointed as junior varsity baseball coach; Rachael Schneider was appointed as junior varsity softball coach; and Taylor Potter was appointed as modified softball coach. A series of KnightU instructors were also appointed for the winter/spring 2026 session, at a rate of $45 per hour of instruction and $34 per hour of professional development.

Shannon Matson, Director of Positive Interventions and Family Connectedness, was authorized by the Board to attend the Navigating Pre-K Day conference at the New York State Museum in Albany, May 6-7. A memorandum of agreement between the district and Dr. Darryl Tonemah for professional development workshops at a rate of $6,000 per day was also approved.

The Board also nominated incumbent members Thomas DeJoe, David Lowrey, Christine Schnars and Jeff Chase to serve three-year terms on the Erie II BOCES Board.

The next meeting of the Silver Creek Board of Education is Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m.
