6th Kids & Sibs Camp returns

The sixth Annual Kids & Sibs Camp will take place Aug. 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.at YMCA Camp Onyahsa, located on Route 430 in Dewittville.

Chautauqua County’s only camp designed specifically for children with disabilities and their siblings is returning this summer for its 6th year. The sixth Annual Kids & Sibs Camp will take place Aug. 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.at YMCA Camp Onyahsa, located on Route 430 in Dewittville.

This two-day camp experience provides a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where children with disabilities and their siblings can build connections, create lasting memories, and simply enjoy being kids.

Any child with a developmental disability who is registered for camp does not have to have a sibling in order to register for the camp.

Even though Camp Onyahsa’s brochure states the camp is for kids ages 7-12 years old, we will see children going into 1st grade and up!

Campers can look forward to a wide range of engaging activities, including:

— A petting zoo

— Nature walks, campfire, and s’mores (Sibs activities)

— A sibling support group session

— Arts and crafts projects both days

— Karate on Thursday led by Kaiso Rugg from “ALLABILITY”

— Traditional camp favorites such as boating, swimming, fishing, and sports

The Kids&Sibs Camp is made possible through strong community partnerships and generous sponsors, including Prevention Works, Camp Onyahsa, HOPE Chautauqua Coalition, The Resource Center, Parent Network of WNY, VT Power and Lighting, Stuart Tool & Die, and GA Family Services.

Community members are encouraged to get involved. Volunteers are needed to help make this meaningful experience possible. Those interested can register at:
