Appointments, contracts set in Silver Creek

SILVER CREEK — Former Principal Wendy Harrod, who resigned from the Silver Creek Central School district a year ago, was appointed as a long-term substitute at a per diem rate to cover maternity leaves and other substituting needs for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The Board also appointed Alyssa Castro as a substitute certified teacher.

Christopher VanCheri Sr. was appointed as a volunteer coach with the district’s baseball program, while Ray Graf was appointed as an assistant coach with the varsity track and field program.

Courtney Cowell resigned from the role of Teacher Aide, effective March 27. Alicia Rutkowski-Warecki was authorized to take an unpaid leave of absence for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year. Karen Pennington will continue to serve in her place as a long-term substitute for the rest of the year.

The Board approved a field trip request for the district’s My Brother’s Keeper group to visit the Indigenous College and Career Fair at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse on May 1. The Board also approved five district policies following first and second readings earlier this year. Two budget transfers were also approved by the Board.

Two contracts between the district and Erie1 BOCES were also approved, pertaining to furnishing computer services. A three-year agreement amounts to monthly payments of $3,349.40, for a total amount not to exceed $120,578.40. Additionally, a five-year agreement amounts to a total not to exceed $355,141.80, with monthly payments of $5,919.03.

The first draft of the 2026-27 instructional calendar has been submitted for review, which calls for staff to begin Sept. 1, and students to report for the first day of school on Sept. 8. The last possible day of school would be June 24, 2027, with graduation the following night, if the draft is approved.
