Audubon’s “Breakfast With the Birds” is Saturday
Audubon Community Nature Center Visitor Experience Director Katie Finch is looking forward to enjoying Breakfast with the Birds on Saturday, April 25, with a special added feature this year.
JAMESTOWN — Residents are invited to a fun morning of birding and breakfast at Audubon Community Nature Center’s Breakfast with the Birds, Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Join Audubon staff and volunteers as they make a delicious pancake breakfast to go with a morning at the birdfeeders and birding walk that kicks off Audubon’s annual Birdathon fundraiser.
Each year, teams of birders count birds and raise money to fund the Ryan Exline Memorial Scholarship and to provide ongoing care and habitat improvements for Audubon’s Animal Ambassadors. Birders of all skills and abilities find a birding buddy and sign up as a team; people pledge online to support their birding efforts from April 25 to May 3. The $500 scholarship is awarded to an area college-bound high school senior or college student who intends to pursue a future in an environmental or related field.
At this kick-off breakfast, there will be a short bird program and some tips and tricks for those hard-to-identify birds. Come anytime from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. for breakfast and birding at the feeders. The program starts at 10 a.m., followed by a short walk, weather-permitting. Bring your own binoculars if you have them. There will also be some available to borrow.
Bring a little extra cash so you can participate in a basket raffle to win a birding basket full of bird books and supplies for adults and children alike.
Come as early as 7 a.m. and you can observe ornithologists banding birds on the west side of the grounds. Watch how they capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with identification bands, measure, weigh, and then release them.
For more information about participating in the Birdathon as a birder or a donor, go to AudubonCNC.org/birdathon-2026.
Cost for the breakfast is $14, $10 for Nature Center members and children 3-15, free for ages 2 and under.
