Ripley school board reviews pair of policies
RIPLEY — At their meeting in March, board members completed the first reading of two policies. Policy 5850: Data Networks and Security Access deals with the protection of private individuals. The policy involves the planning, implementation and monitoring of information technology systems and procedures in order to prevent disclosure, modification or denial of sensitive information.
Policy 5413: Procurement: Uniform Grant Guidance for Federal Awards deals with guidelines for whenever the district obtains goods or services using federal grant funds. The board will vote on these two policies at a later meeting.
In another matter, District Clerk Victoria Mosier shared information about the Chautauqua County School Board Association’s “Mix, Mingle and Learn” Event, which was held on March 18 at Brix Winery in Portland. This event is designed by the CCSBA to help school board members throughout the county share ideas and practices that have been successful.
In a related matter, board members approved nominations to the Chautauqua County School Boards Association Executive Committee. The nominees are Sylvester Cleary of Forestville, Wendy Dyment from Westfield, Aaron Richner of Cassadaga, Greg Cole from Silver Creek and Mike Schenck from Clymer. There are five open seats with four incumbents and one new nominee, Mosier said.
