In May, the Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club welcomed two new members at its regular monthly meeting.

Lion Mike Herlong sponsored the two new members Hillary Carnahan and Laura Riddle. Lion Greg Cole also helped with the presenting of New Member Pins as President Judy Cole presided over the ceremony that includes the story of how Helen Keller, in 1925, spoke to the International Lions Clubs Convention asking them to be her “Knights of the Blind” and work toward the goal of eradicating blindness and assisting those who were sight challenged.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Richard Goodman and Bob Ehrheart of Spoke Folk. The men shared the beginnings of Spoke Folk and talked about their work. The two groups hope to create ways they might work together in the future.

Upcoming for the Lions Club will be their sixth Annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Vineyards golf course, 4696 Berry Road, Fredonia.
