July, August events planned by library

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St., has announced programming for the months of July and August. Programs are free and open to the public.

Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by 43 Main St., or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!

The library will be closed on Friday, July 3 for Independence Day.

It’s not too late to register for summer reading! Stop by the library anytime during open hours to register.

Where’s Digby? Our mascot for summer reading will be hiding in different businesses in the village of Silver Creek during the 5 weeks of summer reading. Stop by the library to pick up a Digby tracker and join in the fun! Find Digby each week and be entered into a drawing to win our cute mascot, crocheted by Kaitlyn Long!

All ages Storytime, Thursday, July 2 at 10:30am. All ages are invited to join us for a Happy Birthday America themed storytime. We will read stories and decorate cupcakes! Please register in advance.

Rock Painting And Temporary Tattoo Party, Monday, July 6 at 6pm. All ages are welcome to paint rocks and have fun with our stash of temporary tattoos/body art paint. The tattoos work on rocks too! Please register.

Unearth a Story with Nan Hoffman, Thursday, July 9 at 10:30am. Join us for our annual concert with local favorite Nan Hoffman. All ages are welcome and registration is appreciated to ensure enough seating for all.

Lego Club for ages 5-12, Thursday, July 9 at 6:30pm. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! Limit of 10 children and pre-registration is required.

Bling Your Book, Tuesday, July 14 at 6pm for ages 18 and older. Bring your favorite book or pick from our supply of used books and add rhinestones to add a little bling to the front cover. Please register in advance.

All ages Storytime with guest Karen Taverna, Thursday, July 16 at 10:30am. Join our guest who loves all things rocks and gems for stories and rock adventures. Please register in advance.

Book Bedazzling, Thursday, July 16 at 2pm for ages 12-17. Bring your favorite book or pick from our supply of used books and add rhinestones to add a little bling to the front cover. Please register in advance.

Touch a Truck, Friday, July 17, 12:30-2pm, Silver Creek Village Ball Park, behind Anderson-Lee Library. Sponsored by the Village of Silver Creek Summer Recreation and the Anderson-Lee Library. Stop by between the stated hours to explore and learn about a variety of construction and public safety vehicles. Fun for all ages and no registration is necessary.

All Ages Bingo Night, Tuesday, July 21 at 6pm. This dinosaur themed bingo night will include several rounds of bingo, prizes and snacks! All ages are welcome and registration is required. This will be the fourth in a series of themed bingo nights each month, with the goal of providing additional free, family friendly programming to our community. Join us!

All ages storytime with guest reading Kaitlyn Long and her pet snake, Thursday, July 23 at 10:30am. Join us for a snake themed storytime. Please register in advance.

Bottle Cap Magnets, Thursday, July 23 at 2pm for ages 12-17. Create magnets with bottle caps and a variety of items; your own art, cutout pictures from magazines or anything else we can find laying around the library.  Join us to make a few for your fridge or give away as gifts.  Please pre-register.

Dried Flower Bookmarks, Tuesday, July 28 at 6pm, for ages 18 and older.  Join us to create a beautiful dried flower bookmark for all of those books you are going to read the rest of the summer!  Please pre-register.

All Ages Storytime with Miss Amy, Thursday, July 30 at 10:30am. Join Miss Amy for a dinosaur themed storytime, with stories and a craft. Pre-registration is required.

All Ages Bingo, Tuesday, August 25 at 6pm. This Hot Wheels themed bingo night will include several rounds of bingo, prizes and snacks! All ages are welcome and registration is required. This will be the fifth in a series of themed bingo nights each month, with the goal of providing additional free, family friendly programming to our community. Join us!

End of Summer Open House, Thursday, August 27 from 4-6pm. Stop in to help us celebrate the end of summer with fun activities and a tasty treat. Registration is appreciated so that we may plan to have enough treats for all.

Mahjong Club, Tuesdays and Fridays at 1pm. Stop in for a game or stop in to learn how to play with those who love to share their love of the game! No registration required.

The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from 2-4pm. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!

Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from 12-8 pm, Thursday 10 am to 8 pm, Friday 12-5 pm, and Saturday 10 am-2 pm. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday. Fax, copy, and 3D printing service is available anytime the library is open.
