Locals at Library planned at Institution

In conjunction with Smith Memorial Library, The Friends of Chautauqua Writers’ Center (FCWC) is proud to announce a new weekly summer program – Locals at the Library.

Every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., local authors will be on the library’s front porch with their books to sell and sign.

“This program is a great opportunity for authors and readers to meet informally without the pressure of a book reading and at a place where lovers of literature naturally go,” said Fred Zirm, FCWC president.

From poetry to novels to cookbooks, a rotating mix of genres means readers can discover a book that fits their mood and interests.

“The library loves encouraging literacy and the love of literature any way we can,” said Scott Ekstrom, Smith Memorial Library Director. “We’re delighted to host local authors for these informal front porch meetings.”

Locals at the Library runs on Thursdays from July 2 to Aug. 27. Authors included in this event, and one of their publications available for sale, are listed below.

“People can grab some lunch, then visit with authors to hear about their current publications and writing process,” said Catherine D’Agostino, FCWC member. “Authors will have their books for sale.”
