Pair charged in Saturday Busti shooting
A pair of Jamestown residents have been charged in a shooting that took place early Saturday in the town of Busti.
At approximately 4 a.m., officers from the Lakewood-Busti Police Department were dispatched to Cummins Engine for a report of a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female who had sustained a gunshot wound. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transported and later airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., for further medical treatment.
The subsequent investigation determined that the shooting incident occurred at a residence on Big Tree Road in the town of Busti.
As a result of the investigation, Anthony V. Rivera, 20, and Alexander J. Jewell, 34, both of Jamestown, were taken into custody at a later time. It is alleged that both subjects were involved in the incident and have been charged with first-degree attempted assault, first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Both individuals were transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment processing.
The Lakewood-Busti Police Department was assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
