For the past two years Fredonia Memorial Post 59 has been on a mission — to ensure veterans in need of service dogs receive the help they need. The mission began with a simple question from Second Vice Commander Steve Smith, “Can we do it?” Commander Jasen Erick replied, “We can and we will!” The entirety of the post family came together to answer that question as well, raising more than $10,000 for Pawsitive for Heroes, a subsidiary of WNY Heroes. The question came during the 2023 Red White and Blue Gala. The post held several fund raisers including their first PUP CRAWL.The leadership of the post credits the members and the community for supporting the cause. They presented the check to WNY Heroes during the Annual Red, White and Blue Gala, and again at Post 59 during a regular meeting.
