Catholic Charities raises more than $9M
Catholic Charities of Buffalo announced total philanthropic gifts for its 2025-2026 fiscal year increased by 7.8% reaching $9,075,325, reflecting the generosity and commitment of donors across Western New York. The total includes $7,280,436 raised through Appeal 2026, along with nearly $1.8 million in additional charitable giving, including gifts designated for specific Catholic Charities programs, donations made in honor or memory of loved ones, and legacy gifts that help ensure the agency’s mission continues for generations to come.
“While we did not fully reach this year’s Appeal goal, we are incredibly encouraged by the generosity of our supporters and the positive trends we’re seeing,” said Tony DeSimone, president and CEO of Catholic Charities of Buffalo. “Finishing within 9% of our goal for the Appeal, and up 7.8% overall for the entire Appeal giving season window during a challenging philanthropic environment speaks to the confidence our donors have in our mission. With nearly $1.8 million in additional charitable support through program-specific gifts, tribute and memorial donations, and legacy giving, our community continues to demonstrate a deep commitment to helping our neighbors in need. These investments position Catholic Charities to remain a strong, stable resource for Western New York while we continue strengthening our fundraising efforts as part of our long-term strategic plan.”
Running from Jan. 1 through June 30, Appeal 2026 raised more than 91% of its $8 million goal, finishing within just 9% of the campaign target while demonstrating encouraging signs of long-term fundraising stability. Most notably, year-over-year donor attrition declined by more than 66%, signaling stronger donor retention and renewed engagement from the community.
Appeal donations are used exclusively to support the essential programs and services provided by Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the Fund for the Faith. As Western New York’s most comprehensive human services provider, Catholic Charities serves nearly one in every 10 people across the region through counseling, mental health services, food pantries, domestic violence programs, housing assistance, family stabilization services, and programs that support older adults, as well as initiatives that strengthen the faith community through the Fund for the Faith.
