Forest Lodge marks 50 year at site

On July 3, 1976, the members of Forest Lodge 166, F&AM, completed and dedicated their new building on East Main Street in Fredonia. For almost 100 years prior, they had called home the 4 story “Concert Hall”, located across from the Barker Common, which was destroyed in a devastating fire in 1973, which started at the Village Squire restaurant.
This Friday, the Lodge celebrates 50 years in their current location. To celebrate the occasion, Forest Lodge will be hosting an anniversary rededication toast, which will be open to the public. Starting at 6 p.m. there will be refreshments, tours of the Lodge, Library, and Museum, public remarks, a historical reflection, and a champagne toast.
Forest Lodge was founded on June 11, 1816, 11 years prior to the formation of the Village of Fredonia. Many of the early members were also founding members of the community, with streets still named in their honor. Almost 200 years ago, members also assisted with the building of the Fredonia Normal School, which later developed into what is now SUNY Fredonia.
The members of Forest Lodge 166 invite you to join them on Friday at 6 p.m., at 321 East Main St. in Fredonia for the festivities.
