JAMESTOWN - A Mayville man has been charged after leading police on a chase through Jamestown on Sunday.
Gregg W. Morrison, 48, of Mayville was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felony DWI – two previous convictions, felony DWI per se – two previous convictions, speeding, reckless driving and multiple traffic infractions after officers patrolling on the south side of Jamestown at 1:40 p.m. Sunday saw a motorcycle allegedly traveling at more than 25 miles over the city’s 30 mile an hour speed limit.
Officers tried to pull the motorcycle over, but the operator reportedly refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. After a brief pursuit Morrison allegedly pulled into the driveway of a city home and concealed the motorcycle inside a garage while attempting to evade officers. According to a police report, Morrison was found inside the residence and charged without further incident.
Morrison was allegedly riding the motorcycle while his driver’s license was revoked, and the motorcycle allegedly had switched license plates. Morrison was taken to the city jail, where he allegedly failed standardized field sobriety tests.
Morrison was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
Morrison had been sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison in 2018 by Chautauqua County Court Judge David Foley after being convicted of two separate counts of felony driving while intoxicated.
