SILVER CREEK -- The Silver Creek Emergency Squad has been busy this summer. There were 52 responses to incidents in the month of July alone.
As a result, the Village Board transferred $5,000 of funds to the EMS staffing account to bring the account balance to $10,000. As part of the staffing contract agreed to in May of 2025, the Village will allocate funds to keep the staffing account funded with $10,000 available to pay first responders when they respond to incidents.
An additional transfer of $550 to the EMS account for flood insurance was also approved. The Board also approved Ceili Smith as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Silver Creek Emergency Squad.
Silver Creek resident Michael Shearer spoke to the Board at its recent meeting to thank them for addressing flooding issues that have been impacting his property for several years. "I can't thank you enough," Shearer said.
Revised plans for the project on Buffalo Street in the village have been received. The Village Board will review the plans, and the plans will be shared with interested residents of Buffalo Street in the coming days.
A memorandum of understanding between the Village and Silver Creek Apartments LLC for long-term water/sewer service was also approved by the Board. The agreement was initially negotiated when Jeff Hornburg was Mayor of Silver Creek. The Village is also evaluating new water meter infrastructure. A proposal will soon be submitted to the Village for consideration.
The Silver Creek Athletic Booster Club will hold the annual Liv Love 5K Run in the village on Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning at 9 a.m..
The next meeting of the Silver Creek Village Board will be on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., a day later than usual due to the Labor Day holiday.
