Swine winners announced at county fair

Chautauqua County 4-H youth were excited to be back at the fair. Squeals of excitement were heard from the hogs and youth, and a few of the spectators as they participated in Swine Market and Showmanship Classes on July 20. Tony Nye of Washington Court House, Ohio, judged the show.

The Showmanship classes consisted of three divisions and 61 youth. Senior Showman, being the most experienced showman, starts the show to give younger youth an opportunity to pick up some last-minute pointers. Cayla Damcott was the First Place Senior Showman, Aubrey Adams was the Second Place Senior Showman. Among the Junior Showmanship class, Grayson Coil took first and Olivia Kwilos took second. First Year Senior won first place. The First-Year Junior Showman first place winner was Randi Frank, and Holden Taylor won Second Place for First Year Junior Showman.

The Final Showman placings were:

Grand Champion Showman: Olivia Kwilos

Reserve Champion Showman: Cayla Damcott

3rd Overall Showman: Greyson Kwilos

4th Overall Showman: Aubree Adams

5th Overall Showman: Randi Frank

Following the showmanship class was the Market Hog Show. The market classes are divided into weight classes. The first weight class was the 220-229 pound class which was won by Garrett Lesch followed by Amelia Graves in second. Next was the 230-239 pound class and in first place was Westyn Bruyer and in second was Luke Jones. After that was the 240-249 pound class which was Randi Frank in first and Grady Huntington in second. The 250-259 pound class followed with Randi Frank in first and Brayden McIntyre took second. In the weight range of 260-269, winners were Parker Schaumann who took first place and in second was Cayla Damcott. With a weight range of 270 - 279 pounds, winners were Olivia Kwilos taking first place and second was won by Olivia Kwilos. In the 280-289 pound weight class Owen Carlberg took first place, and Cayla Damcott took second place. For the 290-300 pound weight class Addison Damcott earned first place and Kingston Overbeck took second place.

Champion and Reserve Market Hogs from each weight class competed for the Grand Champion Market Hog title, which went to Olivia Kwilos. Addison Damcott received the Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog award. The Third Overall Market Hog award went to Parker Schaumann, Fourth Overall Market Hog award went to Owen Carlberg, and Fifth Overall Market prize went to Olivia Kwilos.
