Forestville resident protests sale of parcel from tax auction

A Forestville resident is asking county officials to reject a property sale at a tax auction, saying that it was sold without her knowledge.
During the Chautauqua County Legislature's Administrative Services Committee meeting, Kerry Vasquez-Marte at 927 Route 39, Forestville was in attendance.
"My property was illegally unmerged, subdivided and then sold off at auction and I wasn't notified," she said. "When I did find out from a friend, I attempted to pay the taxes and I was denied the right to pay the taxes."
Vasquez-Marte said she was directed to speak to the director Real Property Taxes but was told her name was never on the deed.
"I have the chain of deeds and we had the property merged in 2015," she said, holding up a stack of papers.
Vasquez-Marte said she also has the receipts for the deeds and merger.
According to Vasquez-Marte, when she first paid the property taxes, she was not informed about money owed on this separate parcel.
"She never said anything about the property to me," Vasquez-Marte said.
The full county legislature has to approve any property transfers at tax auctions.
"I know you guys have to vote to move this forward, and I'm asking you guys to say no," Vasquez-Marte said.
No questions or further comments were made by members of the Administrative Services Committee.
