Important lesson at NCCS

1 min read

On Friday, students at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School in Dunkirk gathered in the courtyard for a school-wide remembrance ceremony honoring the victims of the 9/11 attacks.Principal Ted Sharon carefully lowered the American flag to half-staff as students and staff stood together in reflection. Students tolled the school bell at the time of the first attack, followed by a solemn moment of silence. The ceremony continued with prayer and patriotic songs, giving everyone an opportunity to remember the lives lost and the courage shown by so many on that tragic day. For the students, it was a meaningful lesson in history, remembrance, and the importance of standing together as a community. The quiet gathering served as a reminder that, even 25 years later, the events of Sept. 11 remain a part of our shared memory--and that those who were lost should never be forgotten.
