Truck dealership gets tax assistance in expansion

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency has agreed to assist a south county heavy truck dealership and repair company expand through a tax break.
During the county IDA meeting, the Board of Directors approved a resolution to give a sales tax exemption to EVIN, LLC which is the company Boyles Motor Sales, Inc., located on Strunk Road in the town of Ellicott.
According to Rosie Strandburg with the county IDA, Boyles Motor Sales is looking to add an addition to increase space and production.
The business has been specializing in large vehicle engine repairs, hydraulic hoses and fittings, brake services, and maintenance for more than 70 years.
"This expansion will allow them to service more vehicles and increase revenues while providing opportunities to expand services in the future," Strandburg said.
The proposed expansion is 8,000 square feet and is expected to cost around $700,000 to complete. They hope to have the work done by the fall of 2027.
Strandburg said the business has 16 full-time employees. The expansion would add four jobs over the next three years.
Milan Tyler, who is the attorney for the county IDA, said in the past these types of resolutions went before the IDA's Transaction Committee for quick approval, however the state Authorities Budget Office has become critical of Transaction Committees, which is why the resolution was brought before the full county IDA Board of Directors for approval.
The resolution was unanimously approved.
