SILVER CREEK -- Amanda Austin has announced her candidacy for village trustee. She offered this statement:

"I have called Silver Creek home for more than 20 years, but my connection to this community began long before that," she said. "Growing up, I spent countless days here because my father owned businesses in Silver Creek and formed many special, lifelong friendships in this community. Even then, there was something about Silver Creek that felt like home.

"Today, I am proud to serve our students and families as the Dean of Students at Silver Creek High School and as the Native American Education Program Coordinator. I live here with my husband and our three children, and I am grateful every day to be raising my family in a community I love so deeply.

"I have never lived anywhere that rallies around one another the way Silver Creek does. When someone needs help, people show up. When someone is hurting, neighbors come together. When there is something worth celebrating, we celebrate it together. That sense of connection is what makes this village so special.

"The saying 'it takes a village' truly comes to life in Silver Creek. Every person has a part in creating the community we call home, and I want to be a voice for all of the people who make our village what it is. I believe in listening to our neighbors, holding one another accountable, and working together to make thoughtful decisions that benefit our entire community. I also want to continue the work of keeping Silver Creek a place we are proud to call home -- including taking pride in and continuing to beautify our village.

"I am running for Village Trustee because I care deeply about Silver Creek, the people who call it home, and the future we are building together. I believe our greatest strength has always been our people, and I want to help ensure that every voice has a place at the table as we continue to grow, care for one another, and make Silver Creek an even better place to call home."
