Former Fredonia trustee and Department of Public Works supervisor Dave Bird said he is running a write-in campaign for the village trustee seat that is up for election.
"Fredonia's Democrat trustees are ruling with political hate and not the village residents’ best interest," he said in a news release to the OBSERVER. "They don't attend village events, don't support Festivals Fredonia or Embrace Fredonia. They don't care if they miss board meetings or even if they are in town to vote on the budget.
"Our infrastructure is falling apart and instead of listening to residents they cut off all public comment at the board meetings. Our taxes are going up and the accountability is going down."
Bird was terminated by the Village Board in the spring after six months on the job overseeing the DPW.
"If you want a voice in Fredonia who will listen, has actual knowledge of how these village departments work, write-in Dave Bird for village trustee."
