By Special to the OBSERVER 2 min read

CLYMER – Fire destroyed a tarp business and barn on Ravlin Hill Road in Clymer on Tuesday – though the family's home was saved.

Firefighters from six area volunteer fire departments responded to the fire around 5 a.m. after Clymer firefighters called for mutual aid. Surrounding departments, starting with the Stanley Hose Company from Sherman, arrived starting at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday. Clymer firefighters found heavy fire throughout and began a defensive attack on the fire. Upon arrival, crews found the barn and shop fully engulfed in flames. With a residence located nearby, firefighters quickly focused their efforts on protecting the home from the intense fire.

“Thanks to the quick and coordinated work of everyone on scene, the residence was saved with only minimal damage,” Stanley Hose Company officials said in a Facebook post Tuesday night.

Crews remained on scene for several hours working to fully extinguish the fire and hot spots. The barn and shop were completely destroyed.

“We are very thankful to report that all of the animals in the barn were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported,” Stanley Hose Company officials said.

Departments and agencies assisting included Ashville, Clymer, Corry, Findley Lake, Panama, the Stanley Hose Company, and Chautauqua County Emergency Services.

“Thank you to all of the first responders who came together early this morning. Incidents like this demonstrate the importance of mutual aid and the tremendous teamwork among our area departments,” Stanley Hose Company officials said. “Please keep the family affected by this devastating fire in your thoughts as they begin to recover from their loss.”
