Aaron Gies, candidate for Congress, speaks in Sheridan.

SHERIDAN -- The Sheridan VFW was the location for the 68th of a projected 100 Town Hall/Meet and Greets for Congressional candidate Aaron Gies on Oct. 15. It was attended by an estimated 50 concerned area citizens.

Gies answered questions regarding data centers, the influence of AI, the decreasing access to healthcare in our district, and the economic disadvantages in rural western New York along with his intentions, once he gets elected to congress, to work on fixes to those problems. He discussed his ideas in depth with those at the VFW gathering.

Gies is a professor at St Bonaventure University, and lives in Olean with his family. He is running for a seat in the US House of Representatives, to represent us in District 23, an area that covers part of Erie County and down across the southern tier. The seat is currently occupied by incumbent Nick Langworthy. He and Langworthy recently did a debate which was televised on Elmira WETM-18 and can be viewed on their YouTube channel.

According to Gies, "The people who punch the clock, pay the bills, and keep this district running have more power. ... Our campaign is proving that working people can stand up to the special interests that have dominated Washington for far too long".

Other upcoming opportunities to meet and speak with candidate Gies will be at a Town Hall in Dunkirk at the Elks Lodge, 428 Central Ave, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Starting at /week.
