Knight hired as Gowanda Assistant Principal

GOWANDA -- Jaimie Knight is the new Assistant Principal at Gowanda High School. She was appointed at the district's recent Board of Education meeting.

"It is with gratitude and excitement that I join the Panther Family as the new GHS Assistant Principal," Knight said in a statement released on the district's Facebook page. "I can’t wait to meet each of you and learn about the people, traditions and experiences that make GHS so special."

Knight has been in the education field for nearly 15 years, serving as a High School English Teacher and in Special Education, as well as administration for the past five years. She is professionally certified as a School District Leader.

"I’ve been fortunate to have several varying experiences that have shaped my leadership, but I truly believe it is the work of a team that makes a school a special place," Knight said. "... I’m so excited for the year ahead and look forward to learning, supporting and growing alongside all of you."

Knight's probationary period of employment ends on June 30, 2030. Knight will receive a salary of $92,500 for the 2026-27 school year.

The Board also approved the appointment of Jaime Farner as Senior Account Clerk Typist, effective Sept. 16 through June 30, 2029. Farner will receive a salary of $46,000 with annual increases of 3.5% effective each July 1 of the contract.

Rhonda Brinkman, a district resident, was appointed as a School Bus Driver. Business Administrator Barbara Smith was appointed as Records Management Officer. Cheyenne Shaw resigned from the role of Teacher's Aide. Board President Max Graham was approved as a volunteer coach with the football program.

Six employees were appointed by the Board as substitutes, including Susan Baker, Sara Bell, Paige Gabel, and Noah Geiger for the roles of Substitute Teacher/Teaching Assistant/School Monitor; Cheri Burke as Substitute Head Custodian, Custodian, and Cleaner; and Isaiah Westerheide as Substitute Custodian and Cleaner. The Board also terminated substitute employees who are no longer available to serve the district.

The revised Gowanda Middle/High School Student Family Handbook for the 2026-27 school year was approved, with changes pertaining to e-bikes. A transportation contract with WNY Bus Co., in the amount of $676 per day, was also approved.

The next Gowanda Board of Education meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
